Thank you for your interest in Jon Kammerer Guitars.
At Jon Kammerer Guitars, we produce one of the most innovative guitars on the market. After several years of analysis, research and development, we have made a significant improvement on the acoustic guitar. Our products offer several improvements over existing guitars in both comfort and style, and also many improvments in the little details that make guitar playing a joy. Some of our features are elimination of end pins, a strategically located jack to save your cord and guitar, externally accessable battery boxes on all of our acoustic/electrics, and total customization at a cost that is less than a standard "name brand" guitar that you would find in a store. We have developed a full product line that includes acoustics, electrics, hollow body electrics, cored body electrics and basses.
Jon Kammerer informally started Jon Kammerer Guitars in 1995 as a thesis project for industrial design school. Before any guitars were made, there was a lot of research, observation and analysis. Being primarily an electric guitar player, the most obvious problem with acoustic guitars was comfort. It was not comfortable playing an acoustic guitar for any length of time. With research into the mechanics of traditional acoustic guitar construction, it was determined that up to two thirds of the sound waves in an acoustic guitar bounce into a corner and directly back onto themselves and cancel out. The final, major problem as a design student was that the overall boxy appearance of standard acoustic guitars looked like it hadn’t been updated in centuries, and that maybe, people would like to be able to have some more choices in the variety and style of their acoustic guitar.
Once the problems were identified several ideas were tossed about to try to come up with a solution. Jon developed a theory that the use of parabolic curves, like in a satellite dish, could help focus the sound. By making the guitar in an elliptical shape, it would hopefully take care of all the problems identified in the research phase. By using this shape, the canceling of sound waves would be eliminated, uncomfortable sharp corners would be removed and the curved shape would improve the styling. The problem seemed solved, in theory, but how would you make this guitar? The shapes were too complex to form with wood, so other materials would have to be used for the body. After further consideration it was decided that the prototypes would be constructed out of both fiberglass and ceramics. It was hoped that these materials would be moldable to the shape desired and also would maintain a pleasant sound.

After unsatisfactory results with the original prototypes, it was determined to go in an entirely different direction. The guitars would be made using state-of-the-art CAD/CAM software and cut on a computer controlled milling machine. The entire guitar was drafted on a computer and then programmed to be machined from a two-inch thick block of wood. Wood could not be bent this way, but it could be cut to shape. This would allow for the guitars to be made from a traditional material, just in an unconventional manner. The extensive use of computer drafting and machining allows for extremely accurate parts. This eliminates the need for individually fitting guitar parts and allows for a lower cost instrument. This cost savings is passed on the customer.
The result of all this research and development is what we bring to you today. Jon Kammerer Guitars has launched itself into the market with several distinct product lines.
This is our first is our acoustic guitar. It utilizes sweeping parabolic curves to give clean rich tones that seem to sustain forever. Like all of our guitars it comes with a dual action truss rod, Gotoh tuners and a nut and saddle that are made from specially formulated acrylic. This special blend is void-free which ensures that all sound waves produced by the strings are transferred into the body. The clean styling of this guitar emphasizes the natural beauty of the Midwestern hardwoods it was made from.
The next product in our line is an acoustic-electric hybrid. We start with a L. R. BaggsTM pickup that has a built in preamp. We then modify this by adding an external battery box, volume controls. This makes using your guitar easier. No more reaching through the sound hole to change a battery. No more feed back as you turn to your amp to adjust your controls. And with our downward mounted jack plate, if you accidentally step on the cord, it pulls out without damaging your guitar.
The next product in our line is the semi-custom inlay option. By taking advantage of the fact that our equipment can duplicate parts accurately, we are developing an inlay library of various patterns. As new patterns are added to the library, the can be added to the cost of the guitar for a reasonable amount. These patterns can be cut out of different color woods, pearls, and plastics to give each guitar we make a very unique, custom look.
Another option available in this area is custom inlay work. We do not have a set price for this option at this time because the complexity of each pattern determines its cost. We can do individual names, company names, initials and text in a variety of fonts, both on the body and on the fret board.
One of the most popular options we offer on our acoustics is a single cutaway body. This allows access to all the frets on the fret board and makes electric , lead guitar style soloing easier.
The most dramatic way to change the appearance of these guitars is to go with a color option. There are two types of color available. The first is a translucent color, available with or without an inlay pattern underneath. You can add a whole new dimension to the appearance of your guitar. This finish is available in primary colors for a minor surcharge. This type of finish appears to build up a depth of finish, but still allows for the natural wood grain to be seen. The second color option is solid color paint. This is available in primary colors and black and white, but it is not available with an inlay option on the body. Custom colors are available for a slightly higher fee for color matching. Another way to make your guitar turn heads is an optional sunburst. Available on any finish, it will definitely turn heads.
At Jon Kammerer Guitars, we feel that we offer one of the most innovative guitars on the market today. Our design is the most comfortable acoustic we have ever played and it is definitely one of the most coolest acoustic guitars on the market today. We take extreme pride in the craftsmanship of our product and hope you are as satisfied with it as we are. We do offer an extensive warranty as we want you to be assured that you will enjoy your guitar for years to come.
